New Years Resolutions – 2015 edition!

I had some quality resolutions last year. Basically I’d like to keep those up, and add in a few more.

1. Take a photo a day. I did this in 2010-2013. This year I started, and failed around May. Stupid pregnancy where I just laid in bed all day trying not to puke!  So I’m 100% in for it again.  I love going back and looking at the old photos.  It’s basically my own personal ‘time hop’ (an app).

2. Start my daily journal. It’s more like a ‘journal for life’. Basically, you just write a quick sentence of what you did each day.
Example: January 5 // 2015 – went to work then watched the Bears game // 2016 – went to the mall with Michelle // 2017 – etc …

3. Lose my baby weight. I’ve got about 35 more pounds to go.

4. Stop wasting food. I throw away way too much food. I need to quit buying stuff and not cooking with it. Also, quit cooking food and not eating leftovers.  Don’t feel like eating that … tough!

5. Clothes shopping strike. It’s still on! No more clothes buying. It’s not necessary. If I bust my buns and lose my 35lbs, all my original clothes should fit! And even if some don’t, I have way too much anyways.

6. Be more social. I haven’t worked with all my friends in 2 years. I kind-of stink at keeping in touch. I’m afraid to call or text for no reason. I need to put my big girl pants on and ask a friend out for lunch or coffee! What’s a thing adults do right?!? 🙂

7.  Drink more water.  I need some sort of giant cup or something to keep me honest.


I miss my husband.

You know what the hardest part about being a new mom is?

I miss my husband.  😦

I go to bed around 9pm.  He stays up with Bubba and puts her to bed around 10:30pm.  By the time he comes to bed, I’m already dead asleep.

No more cuddling or watching TV in bed.

I know that might sound lame, but I really miss it!

DIY – my new journal!

I attemped to make this back in July. I’m finally getting around to finishing it because 2015 is right around the corner!!

It’s a ‘journal a day’!

You may have seen these before. My BFF has one that’s 365 index cards in a cute box.

When I found these brown binders at a garage sale for 25 cents, I snapped up 8 (and gave 7 of them away to friends). I knew it would be perfect for a ‘journal a day’.

Here’s how it works:

Each page has a date on it. Not a year, just the date.  You see below it says “March 12” Every page has a date on it. The binder isn’t big enough for 365 pages, so I had to alter my plans and do only 183 pages (and do a date on the front and back).

So this year on March 12th, I’ll write “2015 – insert thing that happened on this day.”

Next year on March 12th, I’ll add “2016 – insert other thing that happened on this day”.

And so on, and so on.

Since I’m only writing 1 line for each year, I figure I can cram in about 10-15 years in this journal!

I’m exciting to get started!

What’s he/she famous for: He played quite a few years in the NFL, but he’s probably best known as one of the hosts of Mike & Mike in the morning on ESPN radio and TV

Where: I ran into him at Disney’s Wide World of Sports when the Harlem Globetrotters were playing. (probably back in the late 2000’s)


Merry Christmas 2014!

Every year since I was a kid (that was a long time ago!) my mom has written a Christmas Letter with her Christmas cards. When I moved out, I started doing the same. It’s our cheesy family tradition.

I got a little lazy on the Christmas cards this year, and I don’t send out cards to any local friends (postage is expensive!!!), so, with out further ado, the famous Christmas Letter 2014!



Ho ho ho … yawn!

Well, 2014 has been pretty much of a dizzy blur. I even gave up on my “photo-a-day” challenge that I started back in 2010. I’m not happy about that. I’ll pick it back up in 2015!

dopyThe “year of yawn” started off pretty great. In January I completed the first ever Disney Dopey Challenge. If you ran a 5K (Thu morning), 10K (Fri morning), half marathon (Sat morning) and full marathon (Sun morning), you were officially “Dopey!” I’m not sure if I was Dopey for running (well, 80% walking) 48.6 miles or Dopey for paying the insane $500+ registration fee. Regardless, the hardest part of the 4 day challenge was waking up at 3am 4 days in a row to be at the Epcot parking lot for each race. Well, that was the hardest part until the actual marathon on Sunday. Of course, completing 26.2 miles is never a ‘walk in the park’. Although with Disney, you actually are walking in all 4 theme parks … and a lot of boring highways. I finished in a blazing time of about 6.5 hours. That finish time is nothing to brag about, but I finished my 4th marathon, so I’m bragging gosh darn it!

In February I did my first ever “Disney Princess half marathon”. I think I was the only girl out there who wasn’t wearing a tutu or a tiara. That was also the last time I got my period in 2014! Was that too much information for a Christmas letter?!? Well, I’m leading up to that in a moment …

Must be Santa!

I was so lazy this month, just laying on the couch with Bubba all day, that I finally got off my buns to go to Downtown Disney to meet Santa on 12/23.

I finally got out of the house at 6pm. After parking and walking to Santa, it was ONLY a 3 hour wait!


Thankfully they give you a pager so you don’t have to stand in line for 3 hours. Bubba slept for a while, and I breast-fed her in the corner over by the toy store (awkward in public!)

By the time Chris got there after happy hour at Sea Dog brewery, it was time! The 3 hour wait was really only a 2 hour wait.

Nursery Tour

What do you get when you spend $0 on a nursery? A hodge podge of stuff that doesn’t look half bad.

Well, I take that back … I spend about $15 on the purple paint from Wal-mart.

I’m still working on the giant rag rug for her room.  (I’m so ashamed!  It’s taking me forever!)

First up – diaper mountain!  I got quite a few boxes of diapers from my baby shower (thank you!!!) and I bought a bunch more at Target because they were on sale.  I have nowhere to put them (and they are a lot of size 2 and 3, which I probably won’t need for at least 6 months), so diaper mountain will continue to grow!

That black shelving unit was my roommates from our old apartment.  On the shelf are random Vinylmations, some liquor bottles (also a baby shower gift!) and my MVP softball trophy from high school.  Bubba’s got to know that her mom was cool back in the day!

Miss matched furniture!  That brown thing was my husband’s baby chest when he was born.  So naturally we had to use that.  The blue shelf was an Ikea purchase.  Right now there is just a bunch of crap piled on it.  When she’s older and we actually need stuff, I’ll get it organized.

The changing table we actually purchased!  (gasp – we spent money!)

There’s the one purple wall.  And the crib I bought used for $90.  And those snazzy curtains used to be my shower curtain in my old apartment.  They are actually curtains from Ikea that I bought about 5 years ago.

Something new!  Michelle (Bubba’s godmother) bought us this totes adorbs mobile.

Sexy brown chair!  It’s a hand me down from Chris’ uncles.  It’s not a fancy glider chair, but it does rock a little bit.  Free chair = I’ll take it.

That awesome crochet blanket is from a co-worker.  It’s so cute and cuddly!

Looking at these snoozy photos, I need to add some photo frames or something to those blank walls! Pronto!
