Heather Brown

I discovered Heather Brown’s art while on my honeymoon in 2013.

I’m pretty uncultured when it comes to music, theater, and the arts. But I just love love love her style.

I’m hoping to somehow stock her when I’m in Hawaii next month.  If that doesn’t work, I’ll just buy another print.

Like most artist they have artsy farts he stuff that’s really really expensive. But everything I’ve purchased it’s just a print for $35.

The frames, which I thought looked like driftwood, are from Joann.  They were actually pretty pricey, but if you’re a fan of Joann you know that they have sales all the time, and they constantly have coupons in addition to those sales!

Mahalo Heather Brown for making the world a more colorful place.

I’m going to Hawaii in one month!

There’s not really a big blog story involved with this, I’m just super excited.

Hawaii diet!

So I’m still carrying around an extra 20 pounds for being pregnant two years ago.

It’s my own fault really, I haven’t been trying very hard.

Until recently, I’m really buckling down. I think at the thought of going to Hawaii as a beached whale has me really scared.

To motivate myself I made this silly chart:

It folds up into a little book.  Every time I walk 10,000 steps per day on my fit bit, or do a wrap of 10 arm exercises I cross off a square.

As you can tell, I have a long ways to go.

Wish me luck!

Panama City Beach

About a month ago my husband, baby and my parents piled in their SUV and drove 5+ hours up to Panama City.

The key word is UP, because we were driving away from the heat.

I had a backpack full of cute baby outfits for a mini photography session on the beach. I’m too thrifty to get professional portraits taken, so I figured I’d improvise.

And I don’t mean “freezing” like a normal Floridian says. (Oh man, it’s freezing today. Hand me my scarf. I think it’s in the mid 60s.)

By “freezing” I mean it was in the low 40s. Way too cold for a baby to be outside without tons of clothes on. And I don’t have cold weather baby clothes (why should I?), so she stayed in the 2 bedroom condo for 4 days straight. Poor little Bubba.

IMG_0625On the plus side, the condo had a large soaker tub, which perfectly fit her little pool floaty. So every day we fired up the pool, put her in a ridiculous baby swimming suit (because I have 2 of them but no flannel PJs) and we played for about an hour.

We stayed in the Wyndham Panama City beach condo. It was great! It had a full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and even bunkbeds (that we didn’t use). This room could’ve slept up to 8 people. And it was right on the beach. We had an ocean front view. Not some “ocean” view where you have to strain your next to see some water. And the condo was really close to a bunch of bars, restaurants and even Walmart and Target. My husband even walked to Walmart one day. (I know, I know … really sexy vacation when you’re walking to Walmart. But I found some really inexpensive fleece hats and waffle shirts that I wore the crap out of!).

All in all, it was a fun trip to get out of Orlando and just relax and do nothing. But going in early March was a huge bummer, since it was just way too cold for any outdoor activities.

IMG_0660We did go to the hot tub for about 10 minutes just to say we did. Getting in was really painful (it was in the 40s and I’m mostly naked!), but oddly enough, getting out was a piece of cake. I think the blazing hot hot tub (it was overly heated I think), made my body temperate go up so much that I was overheated. Whatever the case, I wasn’t cold!

In conclusion (if you’ve made it this far with my rambling), I highly recommend Panama City for a couples or a family vacation. Just stay away from the classic ‘spring break’ time frame, because I’m assuming prices will skyrocket and you’ll see a lot more then you bargained for.

Famous People Friday – Samantha Brown

Who: Samantha Brown

What’s he/she famous for: She pretty much owns the Travel Channel, right?

Where: Disney’s Aulani resort, back in 2011. It was just opening and she was filming a bunch of web pieces about the new resort.

Mmmmm … burger!

I realize my last 2 posts were about losing weight and getting into shape, and now I’m blogging about a burger.

But it’s worth it!

This is no ordinary burger.

It’s a bacon burger.

With a Krispie Kreme donut for a bun!

I’ll be honest, it was waaaaaaaaaay too sweet for me to eat alone. Also, maybe I was a bit scared to even try. So I split it with my husband.

It was kind-of good. I’m glad I tried it (so I can say, “I ate that!”). The saltiness of the bacon makes the sweetness of the donut not so overpowering.

I ordered this burger at the Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort!

(Also, this is an old photo. I’m not eating giant burgers when I’m trying to lose 30lbs of baby weight.)

Merry Christmas 2014!

Every year since I was a kid (that was a long time ago!) my mom has written a Christmas Letter with her Christmas cards. When I moved out, I started doing the same. It’s our cheesy family tradition.

I got a little lazy on the Christmas cards this year, and I don’t send out cards to any local friends (postage is expensive!!!), so, with out further ado, the famous Christmas Letter 2014!

Ho ho ho … yawn!

Well, 2014 has been pretty much of a dizzy blur. I even gave up on my “photo-a-day” challenge that I started back in 2010. I’m not happy about that. I’ll pick it back up in 2015!

dopyThe “year of yawn” started off pretty great. In January I completed the first ever Disney Dopey Challenge. If you ran a 5K (Thu morning), 10K (Fri morning), half marathon (Sat morning) and full marathon (Sun morning), you were officially “Dopey!” I’m not sure if I was Dopey for running (well, 80% walking) 48.6 miles or Dopey for paying the insane $500+ registration fee. Regardless, the hardest part of the 4 day challenge was waking up at 3am 4 days in a row to be at the Epcot parking lot for each race. Well, that was the hardest part until the actual marathon on Sunday. Of course, completing 26.2 miles is never a ‘walk in the park’. Although with Disney, you actually are walking in all 4 theme parks … and a lot of boring highways. I finished in a blazing time of about 6.5 hours. That finish time is nothing to brag about, but I finished my 4th marathon, so I’m bragging gosh darn it!

In February I did my first ever “Disney Princess half marathon”. I think I was the only girl out there who wasn’t wearing a tutu or a tiara. That was also the last time I got my period in 2014! Was that too much information for a Christmas letter?!? Well, I’m leading up to that in a moment …
