Don Jon

DownloadedFileHere’s what the pros have to say:
Jon Martello is a strong, handsome, good old fashioned guy. His buddies call him Don Jon due to his ability to “pull” a different woman every weekend, but even the finest fling doesn’t compare to the bliss he finds alone in front of the computer watching pornography. Barbara Sugarman is a bright, beautiful, good old fashioned girl. Raised on romantic Hollywood movies, she’s determined to find her Prince Charming and ride off into the sunset. Wrestling with good old fashioned expectations of the opposite sex, Jon and Barbara struggle against a media culture full of false fantasies to try and find true intimacy.

Here’s what I have to say:
I was excited to see Don Jon, as I’m a fan of the 3rd Rock from the Son kid. And this movie looked fun and young.

I was wrong. Horribly wrong.

This is one of those movies that goes nowhere. The main character (Joseph Gordon Levitt) does learn a little something near the end, but not much. It’s just kind-of an awkward love story between Joseph, a hot chick his age (Scarlett Johansen) and a random older woman (Julianne Moore).

If you really enjoy one of these actors, then I would suggest that you watch the movie. Maybe you’ll get more out Don Jon than I did.

If you enjoy movies where it just ENDS suddenly with no good wrap up, then watch this movie. (I hate that!!)

If you like movies where things actually happen, then I don’t recommend this movie.

Also, this movie is rated R for a reason. There is a lot of nudity. I mean, A LOT. I watched this movie on an airplane, and it was a little embarrassing. The concept is that the main character is addicted to porn. While we never see any actual porn ‘action’, we see plenty of boobs and butts.

Am I wrong in this horrible ranking? Anybody disagree?
