DIY – flavored water

My new drink of choice is water.

No, that’s not true. I try to drink tons of water (I guess it’s good for you), but I just get bored with it.

So I started adding cranberry juice.

Instead of buying those packets (which can be slightly expensive), I just add a splash of Aldi brand cranberry juice to my water bottle.

It makes a WORLD of difference. I chug that stuff like there is no tomorrow!

I’ve discovered that my favorite ‘flavor’ is cran/grape/water. It kind-of tastes like Kool-Aid.

New Dress A Day wannabe – way too long dress

The quest to be super productive before my job starts continues!

One of my favorite websites is New Dress A Day. Marissa buys odd clothes for $1 at thrift stores, and refashions them into something amazing!

So I gave it a try.

I forgot to take a “before” photo. But this was a dress my roommate gave me. The top was good, but the length was way too long. It made me look extra short and dumpy.

Instead of hemming it, I sewed these little flippy things.

I’m not sure what to call them, but I just pinned 5″ of fabric into these ruffly things, and I kind-of love it!

It’s honestly a tad short now … but I’ll wear it to see if I feel self conscience. If I do, I can always just re-hem the flippy, ruffly thingies!

Let’s get packing!

Does anybody else love packing?

I almost love it more than the vacation itself! Well, that’s not true, but I still love packing!

And I always make a list, just so I don’t forget anything.

Bon Voyage!

If you’re reading this, I’m probably boarding the gorgeous Disney Wonder cruise ship.

Thank you Florida resident special rates!

I’m kind-of bummed this cruise doesn’t go to Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.  But it does go to Cozumel and Grand Cayman.  I’m excited to see new things and take new photos!

Plus, lounging around in the sun, watching Disney movies, drinking that magical fruit juice that Disney has in the buffet (seriously, it’s like orange mixed with pineapple mixed with magic!)

See you in 5 days!

My little family …

I leave for a cruise tomorrow!

In preparation, I’ll share with you some ‘professional’ photos from my last cruise.

My boyfriend and I joined my roommate and her boyfriend on the Disney Dream.  Pre-cruise, we all purchased matching sweatpants shorts.

Sweatpants shorts are the greatest thing in the world, but I’ll save that for another blog entry.

We all donned our lovely shorts and the plainest shirt we had packed, and sat down with the Disney Cruise Line photographer for a little photo shoot.

I love how they all turned out. We look fabulous in our shorts.

My boyfriend has a bum knee, so he sat this on out. (ridiculous!!)

You can’t see our shorts at all, but we all just look pretty darn cute!

My sewing room.

Check out my amazing sewing room.

You wouldn’t think that a single gal who lives in an Orlando apartment with another girl would have an amazing room … but check it out!

Yes, that’s my closet.

I will admit, my closet it bigger than your typical apartment closet, but now that I’m sharing it with my boyfriend, it’s getting tighter and tighter.

Rock on!

Favorite Photo Friday

Taken:  Siesta Key, FL

When:  Spring 2012

Backstory:  This was my first trip to Siesta Key in Sarasota, Florida.  Pared with one of my favorite quotes of all time, it all just works!

“I always wonder why birds choose to stay in the same place when they can fly all over the world.  Then I ask myself that same question.”

DIY – lovey dovey state print

Job Countdown – 26 days

I plan to give this to my boyfriend on the cruise (if I get it in the mail in time), but like any good boyfriend, he doesn’t read my blog. (ha ha ha!)

I ‘borrowed’ the idea from pintrest.

I changed the words a tad because it’s always kind-of weird and mystical how 2 people end up at a certain point.  My boyfriend is from Sarasota, FL (on the west coast) and I’m from Illinois.  Yet we somehow both ended up in the same office building at just the right time.

I DIY’ed it using photoshop.  I just found a FL state clip art and a random heart.

He’s going to totally care less about this gift, but I had fun making it!  So that’s all that counts.

My version:

Job Countdown – 27 days

(My quest continues to do 28 productive things before I start my new job)

So I did what every responsible unemployed adult should do.

I booked a cruise!

And it leaves in less than a week!

Thank you Florida resident special.

I’d say that counts as being productive.

I found a job!

Good news:  I found a job!

Bad-ish news:  It starts on 2/18/13.

So I have 28 days to sit at home.

I vote to make them productive!  I think I’ll attempt 28 productive things starting … now!
